We have many shapes and sizes and approximately 400 standard motifs from which you may choose. Our cast metal signs are manufactured in England at our Hertfordshire foundry.
They are made from a heavy casting alloy that will not rust or corrode. To achieve the raised lettering and a high relief motif each sign is individually cast using the traditional sand casting process. Our foundry-men make a mould of the sign into which the molten metal is poured. After cooling, the mould is broken open and the sign removed. It is then cleaned, primed and stove enameled. The last stage is the hand painting of the lettering and motif where applicable.

Hints on ordering

First check the name of your house with our Maximum lettering and Spaces guide (you will find this next to the prices) on our price list.
For example, the name GRANARY COTTAGE has 7 letters in each word. If you have a preference for the oval shape, this name will fit on a 12", 14", 16" or 18" oval sign. Please note that because you have 7 letters on one line, you do not have to have just a 12" oval.
If you would like a 16" oval the sign will contain appropriate size lettering and motif for that size sign. As a general rule, the larger the sign, the larger the lettering and motif.
We have many sizes of lettering and many sizes of each motif.
Do please add any note to your order that you feel may help us. i.e. APPLEYARD is one word, or APPLE YARD is two words.

Motifs

Ovals, Arches and Rectangles shaped signs include a motif.

We have many sizes of each design to suit whichever oval, arch or rectangle you order.

Our colourful motifs are a fair representation of the subject depicted, and from our wide selection we are sure you will find something suitable.

As each motif is hand painted, we can, within reason, paint them a different colour if required, i.e. the pink rose motif can be painted white, red, or yellow etc.

Holes
!
Holes will be drilled in the most suitable positions unless requested to the contrary on your order, i.e. holes for hanging the sign, or fixing to a vertical post.

Punctuation
!
Arrow, commas, hyphens, accents, ampersands (&), dashes, etc. and foreign punctuation can all be accommodated on the sign. If you do require any punctuation, do please mark your order clearly.

Layout

Our order form has an area where you may suggest a layout. However, you may confidently leave the layout to us. If your instructions are not clear, we will contact you before we start.

If you live in the U.K. we can send you details by post. Alternatively, you can make your choice from the information listed on this site.

We will be happy to answer any question you may have during this process so that you can then place your order by email, telephone, fax or by post. Our terms are payment with order. We accept Visa or Master cards, or any UK cheque. If you wish to use the secure PayPal method of payment, send your order stating that you wish to pay by Paypal. You will then receive an email from PayPal confirming the exact price and instructions on how to pay.

Signs are dispatched within approximately 21 days.

You can easily download our order form and price lists from the Order Form and Price List page. We welcome enquiries and orders from U.K. and Overseas. We will be pleased to confirm the price by email before you place your order if requested.
